THE FOUNDING TEAM - TRULS, JON & ERLING
Understandably, the curiosity is endless as to why a brand would willingly be called Douchebags. To avoid being actual d-bags (because we're not), we'll fill you in. Now, this is a story all about how…
(SMALL PAUSE FOR YOU TO KEEP SINGING)
Early on, when we set out to redefine travel gear, the name “Douchebags” came up. We had a laugh about it and thought, “We can’t call ourselves that.” Time passed and we held a contest on Jon’s blog (http://jonolssondeler.com/ski-bag-name) about the name, where we received hundreds of suggestions, and what do you know? Douchebags popped up many times! It got us thinking... “Is this possible?!”
In our company guidelines we do have “redefining” and “rebellious” as key traits we swore by to achieve our main goal, and if you want to take on the big guys.. Why not make sure they notice you? So, one thing lead to another, and we went for it. They've done studies you know. Sixty percent of the time, it works every time.
We also knew for sure that everyone who hears the name won’t forget it, a good thing for a small start-up from a country people think is the capital of Sweden.
